PPC Positions and Descriptions
PPC stands for Parish Planning Council and consists of 4 Officers (Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer) plus Board representatives (Property, Outreach, Education, Nurture and Elders). Each board is responsible to PPC, while focusing on specific areas of ministry. The terms for all PPC positions are 2 years and generally require anywhere from 2-12 hours per week depending on the position and the time of year. The PPC oversees the business and operations of the church and is expected to govern as a team. The church would be well served by people possessing the following qualities:

Chairman The Chairman (male or female) shall preside at all meetings of the Voter's Assembly. He/she shall, to the best of his/her ability, enforce the constitution and bylaws of the congregation and carry out the expressed will of the congregation as embodied in the resolutions of the Voters' Assembly. All boards, committees, auxiliaries, groups, etc. in the congregation shall be responsible to the Chairman, and he/she shall be welcome at any and all meetings of such groups, either in person or as represented by such person or persons as he/she may appoint. He/she shall also call and preside over the meetings of the Parish Planning Council and shall endeavor to coordinate the functions, plans, and activities of the congregation and in all its parts for the total furtherance of the work of Christ's Kingdom in our midst. In January of each year the Chairman shall appoint an Auditing Committee consisting of any two qualified communicant members other than the Treasurer and Financial Recording Secretary to audit the financial records of the congregation. A demanding position and at times busy requiring up to 12 hours per week
Main tasks include:
Vice Chairman The Vice-Chairman (male or female) of the congregation shall, in the absence of the Chairman, act for and in the stead of the Chairman. He/she shall also be available for whatever duties the Chairman shall assign to the Vice Chairman as his/her representative. Depending on various tasks assigned, time commitment will vary for this role.
Main tasks include:
Secretary The Secretary shall be present at all Voters' Assembly meetings and at all meetings of the Parish Planning Council and shall enter the minutes of all meetings of said groups in a permanent record book over his/her signature. This record book shall be the property of the congregation. In general he/she shall perform all the duties normally pertaining to his/her office and such additional duties as the Voting Membership may delegate to him/her. Time commitments revolve around monthly PPC meetings and Congregational meetings, in addition to finalizing and sending out minutes of meetings to PPC members and staff
Main tasks include:
Treasurer The Treasurer shall be responsible for accurate recording of congregational receipts and disbursements and budgeted and actual expenditures according to proper accounting procedures. He/she shall present a written, duplicated financial report at Voters' Assembly meetings and a preliminary report at Parish Planning Council meetings. He/she shall submit permanent financial records for annual audit. The Treasurer shall be responsible for monthly remission of offerings for missions and church agencies and for prompt payment of salaries and bills authorized by the congregation or the boards and Chairman as duly constituted sources. Steady workload 2 hours weekly
Main tasks include:
Boards of Immanuel
Boards of Immanuel are intended to focus their energy on specific areas of ministry. Boards are responsible to PPC and as productive as they make themselves. Focused effort and team work with clear direction make these boards more productive. Expect 1-10 hours per week depending on activities happening.
The Board of Education shall be responsible for developing, equipping, and maintaining youth and adult Christian education programs for the congregation and community at large.
The Board of Nurture shall be responsible for spreading the gospel and fostering relationships within the congregation.
The Board of Elders’ basic objectives include working for the spiritual welfare of the pastor(s), staff, and congregational members, individually and corporately in addition to supervise assisting in matters of pertaining to congregational worship.
The Board of Outreach shall be responsible for equipping and motivating the congregation for the work of spreading the gospel to all people.
Board of Property Management shall be responsible for the proper maintenance and repair of church property and the general protection of the congregation against loss or damage of whatever kind.

- Communicates to the congregation
- Signatures (1 of 3 Financial signing authorities of the congregation)
- Have knowledge of church operations to efficiently assign tasks that come
- Attend to business/ corporate matters as they arise.
- Chair and prepare for all PPC and Voters' Assembly meetings
- Time flexibility, many meetings with many groups on a variety of topics
- Confidence, people look to the chair to make decisions when one isn’t clear. People may also look to the chair when they don’t like a decision.
Vice Chairman The Vice-Chairman (male or female) of the congregation shall, in the absence of the Chairman, act for and in the stead of the Chairman. He/she shall also be available for whatever duties the Chairman shall assign to the Vice Chairman as his/her representative. Depending on various tasks assigned, time commitment will vary for this role.
Main tasks include:
- Signatures (1 of 3 Financial signing authorities of the congregation)
- Be flexible to work with and assist the Chairman as required
